La première partie, le visible, rappelle la chronologie des événements telle que la presse de l’époque la relate, ainsi que la constitution de deux schémas d’explication contradictoire de la faillite de l’entreprise. La deuxième partie, l’invisible, réutilise les archives comptables pour éclairer différemment l’enchaînement des faits, au travers d’événements passés sous silence. Le comportement du repreneur apparaît comme essentiellement prédateur, tandis que la prédominance des logiques politiques sur la viabilité économique de l’entreprise ressort des choix faits par la coopérative que soutenaient notamment la CGT et le PCF. This contribution suggests a double reading of a social conflict emblematic of deindustrialisation: Manufrance. The first part, “the visible”, recalls the chronology of events as the press of the time relates it, as well as the constitution of two schemes of contradictory explanation for the company bankruptcy. The second part, “the invisible”, reuses the accounting records to shed light on the sequence of events that are passed over in silence but essentials in order to understand the behavior of the actors.
