A partir de documents officiels et professionnels, et d’interviews de formateurs de FLE, l’article interroge la dynamique de cette évaluation. S’agit-il d’une action de « politique » linguistique que les acteurs de terrain ont le droit de discuter, ou d’une opération de « police » linguistique dont la technicité managériale écarte les non-décideurs et les non-experts ? Dans une perspective « technologique », au sens anthropologique, l’article analyse les changements produits dans un centre de FLE. Cette étude conclut sur l’hypothèse que l’objectif central de la labellisation était de transformer le personnel d’aujourd’hui et de préparer la sélection de celui de demain. So as to improve the services offered by FFL (French as a Foreign Language) centers, French authorities have implemented a quality-label process. On the basis of official and professional documents, and of interviews of FFL teachers, the paper questions the dynamics of this evaluation. Is it an action of language ‘policy’ which field staff is entitled to discuss, or is a language ‘police’ operation, the managerial technicity of which rules out the non-decision-makers and the non-experts? From a ‘technological’ angle, in the anthropological sense, the paper analyzes the changes brought in a FFL centre. Dans cette appréhension, elle est essentiellement ordonnée à l’économie et sa caractéristique principale est l’homogénéisation des pratiques et comportements. Contre cette position, se dresse une autre acception qui conçoit la mondialisation en termes de rapports et d’échanges de sorte que la création artistique apparaît comme étant un paradigme exemplaire de la compréhension du fait. Seen in this light, it is essentially linked to the economy, and its predominant characteristic is the homogenisation of practice and behaviour.
