Nous partons des traités et discours officiels sur l’importance de l’enseignement du français. Nous retraçons ensuite l’évolution des approches didactiques en FLE. Puis, nous confrontons ces données aux variations du nombre d’élèves ayant suivi cette langue dans l’enseignement public. Enfin, nous discutons le décalage entre les discours et méthodes d’un côté, et les chiffres de l’autre. Der Artikel befasst sich mit der Entwicklung des Französischen als Fremdsprache im öffentlichen Erziehungswesen in Baden-Württemberg von der Nachkriegszeit bis heute. Wir gehen von offiziellen Verträgen und Reden über die Bedeutung des Französischunterrichts aus. Wir zeigen dann die Entwicklung didaktischer Ansätze in Französisch als Fremdsprache in diesem Land auf. Anschließend stellen wir diese Daten denen der Anzahl von Schüler/innen, die diese Sprache in der öffentlichen Schule gelernt haben, gegenüber. Abschließend diskutieren wir die Diskrepanz zwischen Diskurs und Methoden einerseits und den Zahlen andererseits. The article deals with the development of French as a foreign language in Baden-Württemberg from the post-war period until today. We start from official treaties and speeches about the importance of teaching French. We then show the evolution of didactic approaches in French as a foreign language in this state. Furtheron, we contrast these data with those on the number of students who learned the language in public school.
